Daylight Map Distribution v1.17 Released

Version 1.17 of Daylight Map Distribution now available for download.

• Daylight planet files are composed of 100% OSM data, released under the terms of the Open Database License
• We’ve checked public OSM changes, fix those that might be harmful to our users and import those fixes into the distribution.
• We publish the data in PBF, OSC, and other common file formats universally supported by OSM tools and already used for planet-scale file distribution

New in v1.17: Daylight Map Distribution

• Starting in Daylight v1.17, an additional ~78,000 new translated names will be added on the map. Check out this great blog post for more details: Additional translations in Daylight.

• The Curated Major Map Features Library is a vandalism detection and prevention tool to ensure that prominent OSM features are error-free and safe to display. It consists of three major components: pipelines to compare the library and latest OSM data to alert discrepancies, manual review processes to address discrepancies, and a dataset in JSON file format of validated prominent OSM map features. The dataset currently contains three map feature types: 696 points of global major cities, 1338 polygons of global large water features, and 608 mixed geometries of US landmarks. It is now available for download as part of our Daylight releases.

• Grab ML detected roads are available for download in OSC format.
